Kyle Gillis graduated from UCSB with High Honors in 2009, majoring in Biological Science. As a college student, he created a program in Isla Vista designed to improve the technological abilities of a local elderly community in order to facilitate better communication with friends and family. In addition to working with an alcohol and drug prevention program to mentor at-risk youth, he serves as Co-Chief of scribe programs in the emergency rooms in both Santa Barbara and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospitals. While attending the University of Oregon, Kyle volunteered in the oncology and cardiac recovery units of Sacred Heart Medical Center and has since become involved in fundraising for muscular dystrophy. He is active in multiple clinical research endeavors, involving the efficacy of new CPR techniques and improving cardiac stenting procedures. In his free time, Kyle leads backpacking trips into Sierras, enjoys photographing his travels, and pursuing culinary interests.
